Subsequent to the general waste-burning, incinerated and washed steel scrap gets prepared in fractions. The garbage incinerating results in Iron and steel remains, partly cut, shredded and water treated material with atmospherically caused usual minor surface rust, due to open under-the-sky storage. ISS contains all kinds of cut steel parts and remains: Sheets, bars, axles, cut frames etc. recovered after the general waste burning and recycling process. The selected household residues may contain steel parts like machinery parts, sheets, wires, bolts, nuts. The slag and waste burning remainders are sorted out but cannot be fully removed. Plastic remainders, wood and non-metallic parts as well as granule and sandy rust particles are sifted out. Minor slag parts of burnt waste can be inhered, dross, trash, wood, plastic in a very minor weight percentage. The volume of the residual is maximum 3 to 10% but the weight content is under about 2 to 4%.

ISS fractions are free from explosives like Bombs, arms, ammunitions, torpedoes, mines, shells, cartridges, sealed containers or tanks, gas cylinders etc. It is free of such cans and drums that could have any kind of dangerous liquids & gases.

ISS fractions do not have harmful impurities like grease, oily parts. There are no radioactive, prohibited and dangerous components in them and conform to ISRI norms for steel scrap.

As per the scrap sizes and material conditions- ISS is not to be compared with HMS I & II. This particular scrap type needs evaluation and appraisal by the Industrial end user in terms of adequate re-smelting.
